PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file which is simple and of which the shelfback can be varied in width. SOLUTION: The file 1 has a constitution wherein a first member 10 formed by joining a portion 11 to be a front cover, a portion 13 to be the shelfback and a portion 14 to be a connecting piece, with folds 12, is combined with a second member 20 to be a back cover. The portion 14 to be the connecting piece can be used also as the shelfback and therefore the files different in thickness can be made up simply by using the same first member 10. Since the file is separated into the first member 10 and the second member 20, the width can be changed over by only folding, along the folding lines 12, the portion to be used for the shelfback together with the portion 13 to be the shelfback and the portion to be connected to the second member 20, out of the portion 14 to be the connecting piece.
