Magnesium metal electrolysis cell - lined with fluophlogopite

Electrolytic Mg-metal extraction cell is lined with an electrically insulating refractory material consisting of a synthetic MgO-Al2O3 mica of the type fluophlogopite. In the prefd. design the material, which is in plates is fitted to the cell wall through which the steel cathodes are led in. The material greatly extends the service life of Mg-extraction cells.
