PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus equipped with a highly reliable connection detection function of a fixing unit. SOLUTION: A fuse resistor 6 is included in a photoreceptor unit 5 constituted freely detachably and replaceably from the main body 1 of an image forming apparatus. Once the photoreceptor unit 5 is used, the fuse resistor 6 is melted. Whether the photoreceptor unit 5 is new or not, can be discriminated by detecting the conduction of the fuse resistor 6. A voltage measurement means to measure a voltage is provided in an identification unit with such a configuration to detect that the photoreceptor unit 5 is new before the fuse resistor 6 is melted by measuring the voltage. A new article can be detected within specific time after power activation before the fuse resistor 6 is melted, by detecting whether or not the photoreceptor unit 5 is new. Moreover, a desired technology can be realized with a simple circuit configuration. |
