PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersion in which the dispersed particles have an excellent affinity for a hydrocarbon solvent or a silicone oil and are enabled to be sterically stable and which therefore has excellent dispersion stability. SOLUTION: This dispersion essentially consists of a hydrocarbon solvent, a particulate component insoluble in the solvent, and a polymer being compatible with the solvent and prepared by polymerizing at least a monomer represented by formula (I) (wherein R1 is hydrogen or methyl; R2 is hydrogen or a 1-4C alkyl; x is an integer of 1-3; and y is a natural number of 25 or smaller).
