PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of detecting abnormality of a buried pipe required to be arranged only in a manhole positioned in one side of the buried pipe of an inspection object, capable of reducing the number of workers, man-hours and working times remarkably, and precluded from damage of the buried pipe. SOLUTION: In this method for detecting the abnormality of the buried pipe arranged to connect the fellow manholes, a jig for detecting the abnormality is arranged inside the buried pipe to be movable by rotation of a wheel inside the buried pipe, the jig is pushed single-sidedly from an inside of the one manhole via a flexible rod of which the one end is attached to the jig, and the abnormality inside the buried pipe is detected based on feeling obtained from the flexible rod. The jig comprises a wheel part rolling inside the buried pipe, and a main body for supporting the wheel part rotatably, and is constituted to bring the whole shape into a substantial sphere and to make a diameter of the whole slightly smaller than an inside diameter of the buried pipe, and the main body has a rod insertion through hole for insertion- holding the one end part of the flexible rod to allow the single-sided push of the jig.
