PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic flaw detection method capable of precisely detecting a flaw present in a solid shaft member by converging ultrasonic beams in a far position from the shaft end and minimizing the scanning pitch in the scanning of the shaft circumferential surface. SOLUTION: This ultrasonic flaw detection method for solid shaft member comprises the step of bringing an array probe formed of a plurality of ultrasonic oscillators provided on a plane into contact with the end surface of the solid bearing member, the step of imparting a transmit-receive delay to the oscillator group consisting of two or more of a prescribed number of ultrasonic oscillators among the ultrasonic oscillators constituting the array probe so that the ultrasonic beams can be transmitted and received in a preset target position to perform a flaw detection, and the step of successively switching the oscillator group to perform a scanning, thereby changing the circumferential flaw detection position of the solid shaft member to perform a whole circumferential inspection in the target position.
