PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium to be recorded by ink jet, which has high luster, high ink absorbency and excellent image coloring properties and little waviness after recording, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In the medium to be recorded by ink jet, which is formed by providing an undercoating layer including the salt of alkaline earth metals and an adhesive on a base paper and, in addition, by coating an ink accepting layer including inorganic ultrafine particles on the undercoating layer, the density of the base paper is below 0.90 g/cm<3> and the base paper includes a wet paper strength reinforcing agent. The preferable alkaline earth metal is calcium carbonate or magnesium carbonate. The preferable inorganic ultrafine particle is an amorphous synthetic silica by a vapor phase method or an alumina hydrate. In the manufacturing method of the medium to be recorded by ink jet, an ink accepting layer is provided after the coating of the undercoating layer and then the application of hot calendering on the undercoating layer. |
