PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shape discrimination processing device capable of executing shape discrimination processing accurately at high speed, even if the dispersion error of a light-receiving level or height data of a distance sensor is large. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a shape dictionary for preserving beforehand plural shape data including a prescribed boundary point condition relative to each of plural standard shapes, a height measuring means for measuring successively the surface height of an inspection object, an inspection object detection means for forming a shape profile of the inspection object, and a shape discrimination means for executing, relative to all shape data, a series of evaluation value calculation processing, namely, extraction of an actual boundary point coincident with the boundary point condition of one of the shape data from the shape profile, calculation of a straight line approximate value between an approximate straight line prescribed by the actual boundary point and the shape profile, and calculation of an evaluation value for showing the approximation degree between the shape profile and the shape data based on the straight line approximate value, to thereby discriminate the shape of the inspection object based on the evaluation values of each shape data.
