PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean a contact glass. SOLUTION: In this image reader having an image reading part to scan an original moving on the upper surface of the contact glass by irradiation of a light from the lower surface of the contact glass and to read original information by its reflection, a cleaning roller 11 to face the upper surface of the contact glass and arranged in parallel with the moving direction of the original is provided. The cleaning roller 11 is provided with a cleaning part 11a contactable with the contact glass 4.
