PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high voltage power supply unit which can start promptly and can reliably apply transfer high pressure (electric current, voltage) from the tip part of a transfer picture image after the detection of the tip part of transfer paper in the case it is used for a electrophotography process, and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The output voltage of a variable direct current voltage supply is adjusted and controlled so as to make a control signal CNT inputted from the outside coincident with a detection signal from a voltage detecting means 8. The output of the variable direct current voltage supply 1 is applied to the drive winding of a high voltage transformer 3 by using a switching means 9, and the output power of a high voltage transformer is controlled to be a prescribed value. The output of secondary high voltage winding is rectified and smoothed, and outputted from an output end 5 to a transfer load not shown. |
