PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device for a front passenger seat capable of rapidly disposing an occupant side wall part generally perpendicular to a gas inlet peripheral edge along the generally vertical direction when an air bag is inflated and unfolded. SOLUTION: In this air bag device for a front passenger seat, the air bag 10 after completing inflation and unfolding comprises an occupant side wall part 11 disposed along the generally vertical direction and a peripheral wall part 18 converged in a generally conical shape from the outer peripheral edge thereof toward the front of the vehicle. In the air bag 10, a gas inflow port 20 forming an opening face along the generally horizontal direction is disposed at the lower front part of the peripheral wall part, and the gas inflow port peripheral edge 21 is provided on a case. After folding the air bag preliminarily, it is folded laterally and vertically and stored in the case. In the preliminarily folded air bag 40, the portion 16 of the occupant side wall part 11 near an upper edge 12 is disposed at a position opposed to the gas inflow port 20, and the occupant side wall part 11 is stacked on the lower side 19 of the peripheral wall part 18, and flattened.
