PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll type compressor capable of improving the reliability of fitting of fixed and turning scrolls and stabilizing and improving performance (suction/delivery efficiency and compressing efficiency). SOLUTION: In this scroll type compressor, a spiral lap 12' of the fixed scroll 1 and a spiral lap 22 of the turning scroll 2 engaged with and faced to the lap 12' have step parts P1 and P2 in respective height directions, the step parts P1 and P2 are disposed so as to keep a closed state of a plurality of spaces formed and surrounded with a lap wall surface and the end plate of the turning scroll 2 and a lap wall surface and the end plate of the fixed scroll 1 in response to revolution of the turning scroll 2, and the volume of the closed spaces gradually decreases to compress the fluid. Recessed parts 12'f and 12'e are disposed in part or all of the laps 12' and 22 constituting outsides of step parts P1 and P2 of the fixed or/and scroll 1 or/and 2.
