PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide starch paste having excellent stability without addition of a halogenated organic acid salt as a stabilizer, without discoloring with the sunshine nor reducing an initial adhesion (cohesion) as-produced and after preserved for a long period when gelatinized with an alkali and neutralized with a halogenated organic acid or a mineral acid except nitric acid. SOLUTION: This starch paste is characterized in that a neutralizing agent is an acid except nitric acid and pH of the neutralized starch paste is regulated to 4.5-5.5 in the starch paste obtained by suspending starch into water and gelatinizing by adding the alkali and neutralizing the alkali with the neutralizing agent.
