PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device which minimizes the light loss of a lighting optical system, efficiently guides the luminous flux from a light source to a subject side, and easily obtains an excellent image and a photographing device which uses the lighting device. SOLUTION: In the lighting device which irradiates the object with the luminous flux from a light source means at a specific angle of irradiation through an optical member, the optical member has a 1st optical member having an incidence surface facing the light source means and a 2nd optical member positioned on the projection surface side of the 1st optical member at a certain air interval and is equipped with a varying means for varying the relative position relation between the 1st and 2nd optical members and an optical element part allowing the projection surface of at least the 2nd optical member to have converging operation.
