PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow even an operator without knowledge about a synoptic code such as the international synoptic codes to easily find the reason why certain portions are not displayed as data on a meteorological chart or the like by displaying the error portions of meteorological telegrams in a manner easy for the operator to understand. SOLUTION: The meteorological telegrams reported are classified according to the kind of synoptic code, such as the international synoptic code, and subjected to decoding process. During the decoding process, the meteorological telegram reported is decoded in accordance with the rule of a synoptic code such as the international synoptic code; any portions of the telegram which do not match the rule of the synoptic code are surrounded by a specific code so that these portions are easy to find as error portions and are stored in a hard disc as error data. Based on the error data accumulated, the meteorological telegram is displayed on a screen, while the portions surrounded by the specific code in the accumulated error data are regarded as the error portions and displayed as they are inverted or colored to distinguish the portions from other portions. Thus, the error portions of the meteorological telegram are displayed in a manner easy for operator to notice.
