PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gap blocking plate for use in temporary scaffolding, which is available for building of temporary scaffolding with a staircase even if building frames of a relatively small 914 mm-width are employed, positively sets a work floor width at a staircase mounting location to 400 mm or more which is defined in accordance with the Ordinance on Labor Safety and Hygiene, and can be mounted on and dismounted from the scaffolding in a very easy, prompt, and positive manner. SOLUTION: The gap blocking plate is provided for blocking a gap between horizontal frames 18a, 18b with floor boards, erected between building frames 14a, 14b forming the temporary scaffolding, and a gap between the horizontal frame with the floor board and a handrail frame 22 or the like. The gap blocking plate is formed of a blocking plate main body 2 of a predetermined width and a predetermined length which are sufficient enough to block the gaps, a hook 4 for a horizontal member, protruded from one edge of the blocking plate main body 2, an abutting piece 5 for the horizontal member, protruded from the other edge of the same, and stacking projections 10, 11 protruded from respective sides of the main body along a longitudinal direction of the same.
