The housing 40 is spectacle-shaped in cross-section and has a lid 70. The spools are transferred from the housing to the cassette by removing the lid 70, inserting rods 4 of the cassette into the bores of the spools 1, 3 until spring clips 5 on the rods 4 engage grooves 6 on the spools, and removing the housing. The ribbon 2 is then pulled taut over guide rods and by manual rotation of spool 3. The housing 40 may have annular ribs (42) which frictionally engage projections (44) on the lower ends of the spools and the lid 70 may be shaped to embrace ends 9 of the spools. Axial ribs may also be provided in the housing to frictionally engage the spools. In a modification, an inner strip (41) which embraces the spools and has an intermediate portion to support the ribbon 2 combines with an outer casing (40a) to form a spectacle-shaped configuration. |
