A dental handpiece is coupled to a miniature drive motor unit by a latch member acted upon by a radial loading spring which urges a hookshaped catch into engagement with a recess in the other member. As shown, the motor housing 1 carries a diametral slide member 7 loaded by a helical spring 11 by which the bent-over hook 13 is held in engagement with a collar 14 on the handpiece 4. The outer end 10 of slide 7 is bent over to form a finger release member. In a modification, Figs. 3-6 (not shown), the slide 7 is replaced by a bell-crank member (16). |
