PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic musical instrument which can synchronize playing of other parts with a part where a playing assisting function is set, when the parts are played on the basis of existing sequence data. SOLUTION: This electronic musical instrument has a music data storage part 2 which store music data; a part specification part 3 which specifies a specific part; a melody track part 4 which reads out and outputs corresponding data in the music data to a music generation part 1 each time a key is depressed to advance the playing of the melody part, a melody track counter 5 which counts the current playing position of the melody part, an accompaniment track part 6, which advances the playing of accompaniment parts, an accompaniment track counter 7 which counts the current playing positions of the accompaniment parts; and a control part 8 which compares the current playing positions sensed by both the counters and matches the playing position of the data read of the accompaniment track part 6 with the playing position of the data readout of the melody track part 4.
