PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerizable composition having sufficiently high polymerization sensitivity and a photo-recording material using the composition. SOLUTION: (1) The polymerizable composition contains at least a polymerizable monomer, a ferrocene compound as a photopolymerization initiator and a specified trimethine or monomethine cyanine dye having a substituent whose Hammett's σpara value is negative or a cationic monomethine or trimethine dye whose counter anion is an organic sulfonic acid ion or an inorganic peroxy acid ion as a spectral sensitizing dye. (2) The photo-recording material contains microcapsules having at least a cyanine dye having a component shown in the item (1) on the base.
