PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing a silver halide color photosensitive material by which the edge stain of the cut surface (edge part) of the end of the polyethylene resin laminated paper base of the photosensitive material after processing is suppressed and to particularly provide a method for processing a silver halide color photosensitive material by which edge stain is not caused and processing time is shortened. SOLUTION: Processing is carried out with a developing solution containing a compound of the formula RSO2 M (where R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aralkyl or aryl and M is H, an alkali metal atom, ammonium or a quaternary amine) in an automatic processing machine in which the air time ratio in a color developing step is 10 to 40%.
