PURPOSE: Provided is a secondary battery which has a protective film on top of cap, and thus prevent the rust generation in battery and water leakage of electrolyte, as well as shows simplified manufacturing process and reduced cost. CONSTITUTION: The lithium secondary battery comprises an electrode assembly having anode plate(333) and cathode plate(331) on both sides of separator(332); a case(310), into which the electrode assembly is inserted; a cap assembly(322) which is positioned at upper opening of the case and seals inside of the case; and a protective film(340) formed on top of the cap assembly. The protective film(340) is composed of insulating material curable by ultraviolet. The end of the case and edge of the cap assembly are welded with together.
