The spring strips which are positioned so that the ends yield laterally on the sides of the bed inserts consists of a lower layer of homogenous, solid plastic and an upper layer of closed pore foam plastic. Preferably the upper layer is covered with a smooth plastic coat of the same material as the lower layer.
