PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide prfC polypeptide and DNA (RNA) encoding prfC polypeptide, a method for producing such polypeptides by recombinant technique, and a method for utilizing prfC polypeptides to prevent infection, especially bacterial infection. SOLUTION: A polypeptide containing an amino acid sequence having at least 70% identity to a specific amino acid sequence has been newly identified with Streptococcus pneumoniae. The invention further relates to a medical use of the polypeptide. |
