PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel chair mounting/dismounting apparatus for a railway vehicle which is applicable for the entrance door of the railway vehicle and enables the developing of a slope plate on a platform for the railway vehicle though inclined while keeping the slope plate from interfering with a rail on the entrance door when it is made to approach. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with the slope plate 111 movable between 'housing position' inside the entrance door 6 and 'approaching position' across the entrance door 6 and the platform 8, an advancing/retraction drive means 112 which advances or retracts the slope plate 111 between the 'housing position' and the 'approaching position', a lifting means 168 which lifts at least the end part on the side of the platform of the slope plate 11 up to a position higher than the height of the entrance door 6 at the stage before the end part on the side of the platform of the slope plate 111 sticks outward from the entrance door 6 in the operation of shifting to the 'approaching position' from the 'housing position' and an attitude control means which lowers the end part on the side of the platform of the slope plate 111 at the stage after the end part on the side of platform of the slope plate 111 sticks outward from the entrance door 6 in the operation of shifting to the 'approaching position' from the 'housing position'.
