NEW CYTOCHROME P450 AND GENE ENCODING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new gene capable of being utilized for decomposition of a recalcitrant compound exemplified by an endocrine disruptor such as dioxins, and consequently capable of being utilized for bioremediation of the environment. SOLUTION: This gene encoding a new family of cytochrome P450 is obtained from Ustilago. The base sequence of the gene is identified and the amino acid sequence is revealed. The host cell transformed by the recombinant DNA integrated with the cytochrome P450 gene produces the protein encoded by the gene.
