PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clamping device where a power actuated holder 2 which holds a workpiece and a tool is fixed to a rotating spindle 1 of a rotary machine, an assembly mechanism is simplified and a linear dimension of an assembly structure is reduced. SOLUTION: A common piston 31 moves a plurality of clamped pieces 9, which are movable in the radial direction toward the direction in which the holder 2 is disconnected from a clamping head 3, and also moves a coupling 11 axially toward a position and attitude at which a clamping element 12 is disconnected form a clamping rod 10. To move the clamping pieces 9 at the position and attitude, where the holder 2 is fixed reliably, a spring 15 is prepared between the clamping head 3 and a sleeve 17 which are inside the rotating spindle 1. Besides, the piston 31 moves the coupling 11 to a position where the coupling 11 is driven while engaged with the clamping element 12.
