Upwardly diverging elongated boards or guide plates are arranged above the upper run of a sanding belt and either is adapted to support a board or other element to be beveled on the sander, the plates being adjustable individually toward and away from each other to determine the depth of the beveling operation and being bodily movable to take advantage of the sanding surface on the belt at any point across the width thereof.
