To bring the heads scanning plate 144 to the desired location, the lower drum part 142 is mounted on a bolt 202, which loosely fits a bore 84 in the bracket 36, and is then moved vertically until the plate 144 contacts a dowel 368, Fig. 19, fixed to a spacer body 360 temporarily supported at a predetermined level relative to an upper reference surface 64 of the bracket. The bolt 202 is then tightened to bring the drum part into contact with further reference surfaces 70a, 70b of the bracket. The upper drum part 140 may then be supported by a bolt 162, as indicated, when the spacer is removed. The bracket 36 also supports entry and exit inclined tape guides 38, 42, the guides being located prior to adhesive fixing in relatively large apertures 100 with the aid of a specially constructed jig (Fig. 8, not shown). |
