COMMUNICATION APPARATUS AND METHOD BETWEEN PROCESSORS BY USING ATM SWITCH

PURPOSE: A communication apparatus and a method between processors by using an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switch are provided to perform data communication between processors of communication devices by using an ATM switch without using a separate data link. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(51) generates IPC(Inter Processor Communication) data for transmitting to another communication device and at the same time, processes received IPC data. An IPC cell transmission unit(53) analyzes IPC data outputted from the control unit by a cell unit. An ATM block reception unit(55) is connected to an ATM switch and transfers the IPC data outputted from the cell transmission unit by a cell unit to the ATM switch. An IPC cell reception unit(52) assembles the received IPC data by a cell unit with a packet and then transmits to the control unit. An ATM block transmission unit(54) transmits the IPC data transferred from the ATM switch to the IPC cell reception unit.
