A method for processing a digital picture comprising picture points, wherein coding information is assigned to the picture points, comprises the following steps: applying an iterative filtering for at least a part of the picture points of the picture using a regularization function, wherein in each iteration, the filtering is performed for two picture points respectively, and wherein the regularization function includes aterm that ensures the fidelity of the picture and a smoothness constraint.
