PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly determine the quality level of a calendar-processed magnetic recording medium when calendar processing is carried out between metal rolls. SOLUTION: Calendar processing carried out all the way while a magnetic recording medium 20 having a magnetic layer coated on a surface is pressed between a pair of metal rolls 11 and 12. The metal rolls 11 and 12 are processed so as to set the sum of a cylindricity equal to/lower than 4μm, and attached to a calendar processor 10. When the sum of the cylindricity of the metal rolls 11 and 12 is equal to/lower than 4μm, the calendar-processed magnetic recording medium 20 has surface smoothness improved, and a magnetic layer set to a high density, and thus a quality level is quickly determined.
