A tool (700) for use with a vacuum cleaner comprises a housing having a main air inlet aperture (730) for engaging with a surface to be cleaned, an air outlet (701) for connecting to a suction hose or wand of the vacuum cleaner and a suction channel (750) extending between the inlet aperture and the air outlet. A brush (740) is mounted within the housing for agitating the surface to be cleaned. A bleed air inlet (710) is provided for allowing air to bleed into the suction channel. The bleed air inlet (710) is located such that it is spaced from the main air inlet (730) and directs towards the distal end of the brush (740), thus subjecting the surface to agitation by both the brush (740) and the bleed air.
