<p>Electrical characteristics of a waveguide device are altered by changing the underlying structure of the device. The device includes a multi-layered substrate including a fixed high permittivity layer (12), a flexible ground plane (25), a coil (26) printed on the bottom of the flexible ground plane (25) and a stationary magnetic sheet (15). The coil is actuated by a current and varies the distance between the movable portion of the ground plane and the stationary sheet, thereby varying the permittivity of the waveguide device and the characteristic velocity and time delay of signals propagating through the waveguide device.</p> |
