SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the spinel type positive electrode material for the lithium secondary battery is characterized in that a lithium compound, a manganese compound, a fluorine compound and molten salt are mixed and subjected to a heat treatment in the range of 500-800 deg.C, the molten salt is washed and removed after the heat treatment, and the molten salt is one or more selected from lithium borate and vanadium oxide. In the spinel type positive electrode material for the lithium secondary battery, Li-Mn-O-F obtained by the manufacturing method is used as a constituent element, and a specific surface area is 0.8 m<2> /g or less. The lithium secondary battery is characterized by that it uses the spinel type positive electrode material.
