PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-valued data thinning method that can execute interleave processing of image data used for recording and represented by multi-valued data at high-speed with a decreased number of processing processes. SOLUTION: This invention provides a recording control method and device that controls recording of an image on a recording medium by a recording head on the basis of recording data, extracts thinned data 804 corresponding to a density of each of pixel data of multi-valued image data 801 of a recording object received from a host, compares the data with a density of the multi- valued pixel data to interleave the multi-valued pixel data and generates multi- valued pixel data 804 that are thinned out.
