PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an electric connector connecting a connection member such as an FPC small in size and low in height to enhance a packaging density. SOLUTION: A cover 7 for opening and closing an opening of a front half of a housing 4 by rotational movement is installed. First and second contacts 19 and 20 are held in an alternating cross-compound raw in the housing 4. The respective contacts 19, 20 are press-fitted in corresponding fixing holes from the rear side of the housing 4 and fixed thereto. Lead portions 21, 22 of the first and second contacts 19, 20 are arranged in zigzag with the positions deviated alternatingly and backward and forward. Even when a space between the contacts 19, 20 is narrowed, a distance between the lead portions 21, 22 can be surely kept to an extent that the soldered portions thereof do not interfere with each other.
