PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration in picture quality caused by diffracted light of order unused for scan processing which leaks out onto a photosensitive medium or interferes with diffracted light of order used for the scan processing. SOLUTION: A subordinate chamber 220 which is surrounded with a light shield wall is provided above a main chamber 210 wherein a laser beam source 10 and an acoustooptic modulator (AOM) 112 are arranged. The AOM 112 generates (0)th-order diffracted light 182a which is not modulated according to an image signal and the 1st-order diffracted light 182b which is modulated from the laser beam 182 emitted by the laser beam source 102 and projects them in different directions. The (0)th-order diffracted light 182a passes through a hole 200b bored in an insulation wall 200a and is introduced into the subordinate chamber 220 from the main chamber 210 and attenuated in the subordinate chamber 220.
