<p>Method and apparatus for three-dimensional mapping applied to automotive diagnostics and repair and the like in which mapping of distinct zones on a vehicle or the like, is achieved without the use of a separate mechanical reference frame serving as a mounting for (for example) optical emitters. Instead, in an optical embodiment the invention employs three selected emitters mounted on the vehicle to serve as a reference frame for both of the two mapping operations and their different camera positions whereby the need for a separate structural reference frame is eliminated.</p> |
