The use of lipopeptides (I) is claimed in the preparation of a vaccine for controlling viral rebound after cessation of antiretroviral therapy in HIV-positive patients having a viral charge of at most 10000 (especially at most 50) copies per ml of plasma and a CD4+ level of at least 300 (preferably at least 500) cells per mm<3>, where (I) consists of a 7-100 amino acid chain containing at least one CTL epitope of an HIV protein, covalently bonded to an 8-20C lipid chain.
