PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon monoxide sensor which can be refreshed even for high concentration carbon monoxide gas. SOLUTION: The carbon monoxide sensor comprises a proton conductive electrolyte film 1, electrodes 2 arranged on the opposite sides of the electrolyte film 1 while having a catalyst, a first current collecting plate 8 provided with a gas channel 7 having gas inlet and outlet and arranged such that the gas channel 7 touches the surface of one electrode 2, a second current collecting plate 10 having a hole 9 arranged to touch the surface of the other electrode 2, a DC power supply 17 connected such that the first current collecting plate 8 serves as the positive pole and the second current collecting plate 10 serves as a negative pole and having a measuring voltage not lower than the decomposition potential of water, and means (ammeter 18) for detecting a current variable depending on the concentration of carbon monoxide gas in a gas to be detected flowing through the gas channel 7 while containing hydrogen. |
