<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition device for an internal combustion engine for reducing the number of terminals of the primary coil of an ignition coil. SOLUTION: Since one end of the primary coil 4 of the ignition coil 3 is connected to a collector terminal of a power transistor 1 and the other end is earthed together with the other end of the secondary coil 5, the number of the terminals of the primary coil 4 can be one, and therefore, the number of the terminals of the primary coil 4 is reduced and the structure of wiring, etc., is simplified. Accordingly, there is no need to arrange complicated wiring in the limited space inside an engine room, etc., of a vehicle and a mounting space can be easily secured, so that the repair and maintenance work can be carried out easily. Moreover, the other end of the primary coil 4 can be connected to the core of the ignition coil 3 together with the other end of the secondary coil 5, or to the housing of a spark plug 6. As a result, the ignition device can be easily assembled and the number of assembly processes can be reduced.</p> |
