<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for multicasting ATM cells which achieves multicast of the ATM cells by using a small memory. SOLUTION: A VPCI table is divided into arbitrary units n1, n2,..., etc. The VPCI table is an aggregation of information bits for indicating virtual path identifiers and virtual channel identifiers. The VPCI table is divided into k VPCI tables. The number n is the number of the multicast maximum output cells. The number k is sufficiently smaller than the number n. Each sender cell as a source for multicasting has VPCI selecting flags for indicating the k VPCI tables.</p> |
