PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nematic liquid crystal composition that can meet the fast response and has suppressed volatility and liquid crystal display and the like using the same. SOLUTION: The objective nematic liquid crystal composition includes a plurality of liquid crystal compounds and the molar fraction of the liquid crystal compound having a smaller surface tension than that of the liquid crystal compound having the smallest cohesive energy among them is characteristically kept at <=0.05. This invention further provides liquid crystal displays using the liquid crystal composition. The use of the nematic liquid crystal composition can inhibit the volatilization of the liquid crystal compound in the vacuum sealing process that is one of the most excellent liquid crystal injection readily adaptable to the mass production and the liquid crystal displays of high response can be provided.
