PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of coping with both cases that a fixing roller and a pressure roller are formed to a straight shape or a swelled shape, capable of stabilizing the action of a transfer paper due to the positional change of a unit at driving, and preventing an abnormal image such as rubbing and irregularities in the image. SOLUTION: As for the nip width between the fixing roller 83 and the pressure roller 84, a driving side pressure spring 85 and a driven side pressure spring 86 are adjusted so that the nip width on the driven side may become larger than the nip width on the driving side. It is preferable to adjust the nip width so that the nip width on the driven side may be larger than that on the driving side by the extent of 0.1 mm to 0.5 mm. Besides, a spring pressure adjusting spacer 86a is attached to the driven side pressure spring 86.
