PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a randomly arranged silent chain substantially, improving the chain life time by suppressing the phenomenon of running upon a sprocket tooth, reducing the contact noise from an inside engagement surface and the vibration noise of a free span, and suppressing abnormal elongation and overload on power transmission. SOLUTION: A first link plate 1 starting engaging the sprocket tooth at an inside cloth 1a and seating at outside flank 1b and a second link plate 2 engaging and seating the sprocket tooth only with an outside flank 2b are composed in endless state mixing in the chain direction, a plate mixing ratio with respect to the entire link plate of the first link plate 1 is less than 50%, as well as at least second link plate 2 is randomly arranged, before and after the first link plate 1, so that the sprocket tooth is suppressed of running upon phenomenon.
