PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both a method for applying an oil agent by which excellent process stability is obtained with a small amount of the oil agent by uniformly applying the oil agent to the whole fiber bundle of carbon fiber precursors and the production cost can be reduced and an oil applicator. SOLUTION: This method for applying the oil agent to the fiber bundle of the carbon fiber precursors is characterized by continuously passing the fiber bundle through an oil agent bath, forcedly feeding the oil agent with a screw pump and jetting the oil agent on the overall width of the fiber bundle when the oil agent is applied to the fiber bundle of the carbon fiber precursors.
