PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detecting device having a firm sensor itself, having no trouble in the installation work and conveyance, capable of reliably detecting a load of a fixed amount or above and being manufactured at a low cost. SOLUTION: This detecting device comprises a sensor cable 13 forming a closed circuit by stretching at least two lines 18 and 19 at a sediment collapse monitor position, weak point sections 17 against cutting provided at prescribed intervals in the middle of at least one of two lines, a protective pipe 14 covered on the sensor cable 13 to protect it, and cable fixing sections 27 fixing the sensor cable 13 at positions other than the weak point sections 17 on the sensor cable 13. The cable fixing sections 27 of the protective pipe 14 are fixed at the sediment collapse monitor position with support piles 15. A plurality of core wires 20 bundled to form the sensor cable 13 are integrally connected at two junctions 21, and part of the core wires 20 between two junctions 21 are cut out to form the weak point sections 17.
