PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent dirt from entering or light from leaking through a plug inserting/drawing port by having a shutter for an unplugged state, without impairing the compactness of a conventional round optical connector, and particularly, without increasing the dimensions in height or width, and also to facilitate identification of the types of optical connectors by coloring the shutter. SOLUTION: An optical element 2 is installed in the body 1 that has an inserting/drawing port 12 and an inserting space 13 for a plug P. In the inserting space 13, there is provided a void 15 bulging out to the side of the inserting/ drawing port 12, with the shutter 5 attached to that void 15 through a supporting shaft 4. The shutter 5 is elastically energized in the closing direction.
