CD JEWEL CASE

A jewel case (10) for an optical disc (32) is provided which includes a bottom (12) and a top (14) interconnected by a hinge (26) for enabling manual opening and closing of the case (10). A hub (30) is formed in the bottom (12) and includes a widened base for engaging a disc central aperture, and arcuate ribs (60) are also formed in the bottom (12) in a circular pattern are provided for accommodating the optical disc (12) therebetween. The ribs (60) have a height of a greater thickness of an optical disc (32) for engaging the top (14) to enable the optical disc (32) to float between the top (14) and the bottom (12) of the case (10) upon closure. The ribs (60) have spaces therebetween for enabling fingertip access to the optical disc (32) for removal of the optical disc (32) from the hub (30).
